Richard Berry's Extravagant Colorado Estate: A Dream Home For $20 Million

If you’ve got $20 million to spare and are looking for a place to live about 30 minutes outside of Denver, Colorado, former racing driver Richard Berry has just the thing. He’s put his insane Colorado estate on the market for $19.999 million, and the property’s main house was apparently designed without anybody around to say “no.”

The almost 80-acre estate is known as Thunder Ridge and is located in the small town of Evergreen. Its main attraction is undoubtedly the 25,400-square-foot house that features such amenities as a Star Trek-themed home movie theater (which, with its motion-theater seats, he says is “better than being on a ride at Disney World”), multiple huge saltwater aquariums, and an elaborately designed grotto-style pool area with automatic doors, locker rooms, a tiki bar, a hot tub, a ceiling full of star-like twinkling lights, and a waterfall.

Then, in its own separate structure, there’s a 30,000-square-foot car showroom/museum complete with its own car wash. The showroom, which is larger than the actual house, features plenty of space for a car collection, and Berry’s own once numbered as many as 232 automobiles – a collection he says has been reduced to around 30. The car collection isn’t included in the asking price, though, and Berry notes that the space could be redesigned for any number of purposes, like horse stables or an indoor sports complex.

As Berry told The Wall Street Journal, his goal with the house was simple: He “wanted to have a piece of the Playboy Mansion here in Colorado,” and it seems clear that he’s possibly exceeded his goal. Why would Berry want to part with such a grown-up amusement park? He says that since his kids have moved away, it’s simply too much space for him.
